Everything You Need to Know About Summer Work in Germany

Yes, absolutely! The Summer Work Germany program is not just a work program, it also offers you an unforgettable cultural adventure. While working in Germany, you will gain professional experience and also have the opportunity to explore Europe in your free time. This program promises you the chance to learn a new language, meet people from different cultures, and boost your confidence. In short, a summer experience that will add value to your life awaits you.

Under the Summer Work Germany program, your hourly wage and weekly working hours are determined by legal regulations and sectoral agreements. For the temporary employment ("Leiharbeit") sector you will be working in, the minimum gross hourly wage for the summer of 2025 was set at €14.53. However, as is the case every year, there will be an increase in the hourly wage for 2026. This wage guarantees the lowest amount you are legally entitled to receive. Your weekly working hours generally vary between 35 and 40 hours, depending on your employer's workload. Any extra hours you work will be reflected in your salary as overtime pay. This means that during the program, you will have an income that will cover your living expenses and allow you to save money.

To participate in the program, you must first be a student at a university in Turkey. This means you can be an undergraduate, associate degree, or graduate student. You must also be between 18 and 35 years old and have a valid passport. If you meet all these requirements, you are ready to begin your adventure in Germany.

You can work for up to 89 days in Germany. Job opportunities are quite extensive. For example, you can work in many different sectors such as data entry in banks, hotels, restaurants, cafes, retail stores, amusement parks, logistics warehouses, and factories.

Knowing German is definitely an advantage, but it is not a mandatory requirement. Most employers in Germany are happy to accept students who speak English.

Accommodation is arranged by the employer, and a small amount is deducted from your monthly salary at the end of the month. This is a great convenience, especially for students going abroad for the first time.
